Most clients are surprised to learn that Quebec has a very healthy population of timber wolves. In recent years, the wolf population in our hunting area has increased to the point where the wolves are severely decreasing the moose & deer population from predation of calves and fawns. We also have a good population of brush wolves (eastern coyotes). The wolf hunt is offered in combination with deer, bear, and moose in the fall or as a hunt on its own in winter. In the fall the wolves are incidental harvest if they are sighted while hunting deer, bear, & moose. For hunters that tag out early we will have a few wolf baits in place.
The best time to hunt wolves is in February and March. At this time of year the wolves are hungry and on the move searching for food. This is also the mating season for wolf packs. If you are serious about harvesting a wolf, this is the time to book. A father & son last season had 10 shot opportunities on wolves in a single week of hunting! In winter, wolves will be hunted over natural kills or on large carcass baits. This is truly a unique & awesome hunt. This winter wolf hunt can be combined with ice fishing and grouse & hare hunting.
